What I like about this painting is the gradual lightening of the tones further towards the background.

Even though everything in the painting looks very loosely-rendered, if you look carefully, there's plenty of detail and texture-especially in the rubble-walls of the buildings.

Maybe I'm just speaking out of opinion here, but some of the colours look a little weak in areas (again, maybe this was intentional, too)

I can discern a delicate balance between tight, clean, sharp forms, and looser hand-drawn forms.

The norm of most paintings/holiday snapshots done of scenes in Greece is that the sky in the background is normally a deep(ish) shade of blue, but here, it really isn't that much of an issue.
